Bauchi as police station was destroyed by boko haram

Bauchi – In what could be described as a revenge mission, just barely twelve hours after the police, yesterday, killed three suspected members of the Islamic sect, Boko Haram,
in a gun duel at Unguwan Kaura, in Jahun ward of Bauchi state, gunmen suspected to be members of the group, Tuesday night, invaded Toro Divisional Police Station.
Vanguard gathered that the gunmen, numbering about five, stormed the station at about 8:00 pm, shooting sporadically into the air, causing panic not only among policemen on duty, but members of the public, in the neighbourhood, who scampered to safety.
When the gunmen entered the station, they met it empty as all the policemen on duty ran for dear lives, leaving behind their arms and other belongings.
It was further gathered that the gunmen ransacked the station, carting away guns and ammunition. They also freed the only suspect in the cell who was arrested on Sunday, for stealing a goat.
Our correspondent also learnt that the gunmen left behind a bag suspected to contain explosives at a spot between the police station and the Toro local government secretariat.
No casualty was recorded during the invasion as the hoodlums carried out their nefarious activities unchallenged.
When contacted the Bauchi state Police Public Relation’s officer, Mohammed Barau said he has ‘’no comment’’ as at the time of this report.
